Perhaps spurred by the OnLive announcement at GDC last week, Infinium Labs recently revealed that they've been working in secret and off the grid to complete work on the Phantom game console and service, which should be ready for a Holiday 2009 launch. The system will launch with a slew of first-party titles, most notable Duke Nukem Forever, which will be available with a limited edition Duke-themed Phantom console.
Infinium CEO Tim Roberts said, from an undisclosed location, "These types of industry changing events don't happen overnight. We decided to whet everyone's appetite at E3 in 2004, and then go deep into hiding to complete the technology behind our little baby. Apparently some people assume that working from a cave deep outside the U.S. is 'hiding from creditors,' but I can assure you that's not the case."
The Phantom is accepting preorders, and you can hold one by sending $199.99 to Roberts' lawyer in Namibia. In a generous move, the same lawyer will help you receive part of a fortune left behind by an heiress, now valued at around ten million pounds sterling. Final price on the console has yet to be set, but they've elected to save on manufacturing costs by getting rid wifi options and leaving you with a centrally located ethernet port. Move over cloud gaming, the Phantom is here. Almost.

I know this is old, but I have a Phantom t-shirt they were handing out at E3 a few years ago. It has to be the most ironic shirt ever. On the front it has their spaceman-trojan=glowing-eyed helmet logo and it says "I BELIEVE" on the back it just says "PHANTOM LIVES" :-)
